Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has penned an emotional goodbye message to Cassius Mailula after his one year of service at the Chloorkop based outfit.

“Cash Money” as he is affectionately known as recently completed a lucrative move to Toronto FC in the MLS after his release clause which was thought to be around R30 million was triggered.

What’s the story?

On Friday evening, Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena took to his Instagram stories where he shared a photo where he was captured celebrating on the touchline with Cassius Mailula and he also penned an emotional goodbye message to the 2022/23 DStv Premiership Young Player Of The Season award winner.

“Like a father who just let his son leave the family home to venture into a new life, I’m with mixed emotions. Extremely happy for your next venture and extremely sad because I’ve lost a son. You will always have a special place in my heart”

“You are a reflection of what God can do when you respect and listen, when you are more than just a footballer. When you are an incredible human being. We army Mamelodi Sundowns, thank you. And I miss you already”.

Former Mamelodi Sundowns red-hot star Cassius Mailula who put pen to paper on a lucrative three year contract with an option of a one year extension at Toronto FC made 31 appearances in all competitions during his successful one year spell at the club and he rattled the back of the net 15 times.

According to his player profile on German website 𝘵𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘵, the 22 year old Ga-Molepo born footballer made 17 appearances in the DStv Premiership and he rattled the back of the net 9 times.

In addition, Cassius Mailula made 10 appearances in the colours of Mamelodi Sundowns in the CAF Champions League competition and he rattled the back of the net 6 times and he made 4 appearances in domestic cup competitions.
