When it comes to addressing fellow ANC members, much alone his predecessors, ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula does not appear to care about protocol; he has a habit of slamming anybody he deems deserves a stick, which some may find unbecoming of such a senior leader.
Mbalula has again fired shots at expelled former ANC secretary-general Ace Magashule, suggesting that when he took over the reins at Luthuli House, the office had not been doing anything under his predecessor’s ill-fated term of office.
He made the remarks in comparison to former Mangaung Mayor Mxolisi Siyonzama, whom under his watch, the Metro has collapsed at every real measure.

“That former mayor of Mangaung, Mxolisi Siyonzama , that office was clean clean. He was doing nothing. It’s like the SG office when I arrived. Magashule was doing nothing, we did a good thing by relieving him,” Mbalula said in his address at the ANC Local Government Interventions workshop.
Mbalula’s criticism of Magashule seems far fetched considering that Magashule only served three of his five-year term, as he was suspended in 2021 when the party implemented its controversial step aside rule.

As a result, if the SG office was clean, as he claimed, it should be blamed on Deputy President Paul Mashatile, who served as acting SG for the majority of the 2022 leading up to the 55th national conference last December.
What do you make of Mbalula’s remarks about Magashule’s record at the SG office?
