Kaizer Chiefs new signing has been hailed by a coach

Early this week the Soweto Giants announced six new signings ahead of the new season before the club announced their seventh signing on Saturday 8 July.

The club have made a couple of new signings so far in the current transfer window and the club is also expected to make more signings before the new season starts as the Soweto side will be looking to have a very competitive squad next season.

Former SuperSport United defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe is one of the players that were signed by the Soweto giants on a free transfer after the player signed a pre-contract with Chiefs during the January transfer window.

The highly-rated defender was one of the key players for the Pretoria side last season and he will be looking to emulate his last season’s performance in the colours of Amakhosi next season.

The player has received high praises from Botswana coach Mogomotsi Mpote who strongly believes that the player will handle the pressure and demands that comes with playing for a big club like Chiefs.


Ditlhokwe also helped his country, Botswana to reach COSAFA, unfortunately they ended up losing to Zambia at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban few years back.

The 24-year-old also won the Botswana Premier League title in the 2018/19 season and that was what inspired Supersport to go for his signature.
“For me, I’m happy because this will improve his game because at Kaizer Chiefs he will always be under pressure. And it is nice to have a player there, who is always under pressure to deliver,” said the coach in Durban during the COSAFA Cup.

Mpote also believes that having players who are playing in big leagues will improve the Botswana national team to qualify to play in big tournaments in the future.
