United Democratic Movement (UDM) President Bantu Holomisa met with former ANC Secretary-General Ace Magashule on Tuesday to discuss his future plans after being expelled from the ruling party. According to Holomisa, Magashule is still committed to building South Africa, despite his departure from the ANC. “It was pleasing to hear from him that he is still committed to land his shoulder in building South Africa, notwithstanding his departure from his former organisation,” Holomisa said.
It is not clear what else was discussed during the meeting, but Magashule is expected to hold a press conference in the coming days to announce his next move. Many are anticipating to hear whether he will be joining an opposition party or forming his own political party.
Julius Malema, the leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), recently revealed that his party is in talks with Magashule about joining their ranks. However, the expelled ANC heavyweight has not yet made a decision about his future.
Holomisa wished Magashule well in his future endeavors, saying that he is a “struggle veteran” who has made significant contributions to South Africa. “All the best Ace,” Holomisa said.
The meeting between Holomisa and Magashule comes at a time of political uncertainty in South Africa. The ANC is facing a number of challenges, including corruption allegations and internal divisions. Magashule’s expulsion is seen as a sign of the party’s deep divisions.
