The South African Government is intensifying actions to crack down on individuals who are sabotaging its plans of strengthening the education section of our country. This is in line Government plan to ensure that South Africans get the best of education when compared to other nations in Africa.

The education sector in South Africa is constrained by many challenges. These include a high level of teacher and student absenteeism, weak school level management structures, inadequate availability of learning materials, and lack of learning spaces.

All would agree that a certain number of tests and assessment is necessary to consolidate learning and hold education providers accountable. However, sometimes the effect of constant assessment on both children and teachers is overlooked.

In an emerging report, it’s been confirmed that a Zimbabwean teacher has landed in police custody after she submitted a fake teaching qualifications to South Africa Council of Educators for authorization.

Internal investigation showed that the 41 year old lady had no degree in education as she claimed, yet she presented a fraudulent diploma and transcript at the association’s office in Centurion, Tshwane for approval.

Immediately, the authorities of South Africa Police Service in Lyttelton was called and she was arrested.
