Shots Fired At ANC Council As Ace Magashule Snubs Deadline To Apologize To Ramaphosa

According to the South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC), former ANC SG Ace Magashule has failed to submit any representations to the party’s National Disciplinary Committee (NDC) after he was given a deadline to apologize to Cyril Ramaphosa or face expulsion.

Although Magashule remains suspended, his status as a member of the ANC might change following the NDC meeting. He has been found guilty of two charges of misconduct and violating the party’s constitution. These charges stem from a letter he wrote in 2021, suspending the party’s president, Cyril Ramaphosa, in what appeared to be a retaliatory move. As a result, Magashule himself was suspended amidst an ongoing corruption trial in the Free State.

ANC sources reveal that no response has been received from Magashule, leaving him in a political impasse. Without a firm grip on his former political stronghold, there are whispers in the grapevine about the former Secretary-General potentially establishing his own political party—perhaps the only remaining option available to him.

Regardless of the actions Magashule takes within the ANC, the consequences of his behavior within the party are no longer as severe as they were when he held the position of Secretary-General. This is especially true after his removal, when there were possibilities that he and his faction could regain lost ground in the National Executive Committee (NEC) battles prior to the National General Council Policy Conference or the National Conference. It is likely that Magashule will eventually follow suit, unless he possesses a long-term grand plan that is not yet apparent. At this point, his options lie outside the party.

Despite facing disciplinary measures for tarnishing the reputation of the ANC, Magashule remains unwavering in his commitment to the party. According to the suspended Secretary General, he will never abandon the ANC until his very last breath. All eyes are now focused on the NDC, eagerly awaiting their next decision regarding Magashule’s fate within the party. Mzansi, how do you see this ending fur Ace Magashule?
