This year began with a lot of bad news for every South African, both rich and poor. But with the 2024 election drawing closers, it seems like the ANC and Cyril Ramaphosa are finally ready to serve the poor masses. Over R250 billion has been approved for Eskom maintenance, and now the ANC has promised the people of Limpopo a hospital that will cost over R4 billion to build.

According to Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba, a massive academic hospital is scheduled to be constructed in Polokwane, Limpopo, with an estimated budget of over R4 billion. The ambitious project aims to enhance healthcare services and uplift the living standards of the region’s inhabitants. To support this endeavor, the Polokwane Municipality has generously allocated 25 hectares of land for the hospital’s construction. Premier Stanley Mathabatha expresses his confidence that the state-of-the-art facility will significantly improve the overall quality of life for the people of Limpopo.

Limpopo Health MEC Phophi Ramathuba emphasizes that the central academic hospital will have a strong focus on specialized procedures. The institution will prioritize offering quaternary services, representing the highest level of medical care available, demonstrating its commitment to providing advanced treatments and cutting-edge medical interventions. In its completed form, the hospital will boast an impressive total of 688 beds, catering to a broad range of medical needs. However, during the initial phase, the facility will be equipped with 488 beds, ensuring that vital services can be delivered without delay.

The establishment of the academic hospital in Polokwane is a landmark development for the region. Its construction, coupled with the allocation of substantial resources, represents a significant investment by the government in the healthcare sector. This facility will not only alleviate the strain on existing hospitals but will also attract top-tier medical professionals, making it a hub for innovative medical research and expertise. The availability of quaternary services will enable patients to receive specialized treatments close to home, reducing the need to travel long distances for medical care.
