Actress Thuli Phongolo is accused of being pulled to her apartment’s balcony following a confrontation on Sunday with Grammy-winning music producer DJ Maphorisa, according to reports.
The DJ, whose real name is Sonnyboy Sekowe, was detained at the Sandton police station and is scheduled to appear in court on Monday in Randburg. In relation to the assault on the actress, who also happens to be his girlfriend, he is accused of gender-based violence (GBV).
After she questioned the Ba Straata hitmaker about an altercation at a show on Saturday night, Phongolo admitted to having a fight with him to the police. She made the following remark in a statement: “I confronted him so that we can talk about our dispute, which occurred the previous night during his show.
The famous music producer allegedly started slapping the actress in the face after the actress responded angrily. Phongolo claimed, “He aggressively grabbed me by my neck and carried me to the balcony.
When the actress went to the police station to file an assault report, according to the actress’ management team, she was with her road manager.
“We continue to investigate how she is doing. In the hour to come, I will see her. The only thing left to do is to discover the truth. Her road manager was accompanying her, the manager of Phongolo claimed.
Maphorisa, also known as Phori, was allegedly apprehended during the daytime after Sandton police officers visited his home.
