Malema not backing down from national shutdown. Check who he says will be allowed to work on the day

Load shedding is showing South Africans flames and it seems like we are climbing stages higher. As we speak, speculation is rife the coumight soon graduate to stage 7. But fret not, EFF Leader, Julius Malema seems to be having some plan to put a stop to the load-shedding headache, or we can call it a migraine since it’s persisting. Malema and his party have planned a massive protest that will see the country shutting down come 20 March.

Malema has recorded a video clip outlining what will be happening on the day and he says nothing will stop them. “We require nobody’s permission to occupy the streets of South Africa on the 20th of March 2023 to demand the release of the President”, Malema said in the clip. Malema and many other citizens believe the problems the country is facing are a result of lack of good leadership. He wants Ramaphosa to step down as of yesterday!

In the video clip, Malema says the country will be brought to a standstill and nothing will move on the 20th of March. Only emergency services will be allowed to operate on the day. According to CIC, no one else will be allowed to go to work on that day. Addressing the complaints from ANC leaders about the planned shutdown, Malema says they can say all the “nonsense” they want but he and his party are not listening to them. “We are listening to the cries of our people “, Malema added. The CIC says he wants to prove that this new ANC they are preaching is nothing. “Mbalula is nothing! He won’t do anything, he’ll actually be begging us to do this in a responsible manner”, CIC added.

Malema has as well rejected Minister Enoch Godongwana’s budget speech that he tabled on Wednesday. “As the EFF we totally reject that budget, we think that it is not aiming at resolving the challenges we are confronted with. And there is no clear strategy on how they are going to finance the electricity crisis that we are confronted with”, he said. This electricity crisis is a serious pain on Malema. This shows that the CIC cares about the people who are suffering consequences of the load-shedding. Malema probably has back-up at his house but he is concerned about small businesses who are at the brink of collapse because of the crisis.

It looks like this planned shutdown will be massive. As we speak, placards are being installed in communities and the response from citizens seems to be positive. People are tired of being in the dark. Will you be participating in the shutdown? What are your thoughts?

Meanwhile, Edward Zuma has an opinion about the EFF shutdown – the date in particular. In a WhatsApp chat believed to have been penned by Edward, the son of former President Jacob Zuma says he doesn’t buy EFF’s planned shutdown. He says the 20th of March will be a public holiday as it comes on a Monday before Human Rights day,so people will take leave anyway!
