The life of Mable Mhlanga has become miserable. Mable (42) said that since she started seeing her 22-year-old mlungu partner Tiaan Vos in 2020, bad misfortune has followed her around.
The sangoma suggested that although she has never been told, it could be that her ancestors dislike her partner. Since I’m not making any money anymore, I’ve had to resort to begging from the people, she said.
“But I do love him, and I have no intention of ever leaving him.” She stated that fewer clients are visiting her, and those that do are having money problems and as a result they even struggle to pay her after she had helped them. “I like people, and occasionally I find myself giving them free healing. I always provide a hand to those in need, but now I’m a beggar,” she added.
The mother of six children stated that they are getting by with the help of a child grant thanks to three of her kids. Mable stated that despite engaging in rituals the previous year, clients were still not coming and they had no solid source of income. She said that although her ancestors had ordered her to carry out traditional practices and sacrifice a cow, she would find it difficult to do so without money.
“Although I don’t believe my ancestors are upset, I believe they are jealous of my relationship because they would have advised me not to date him. But I’m no longer certain that he may be the issue. Although neither of us has any money, we are happily in love with my white man,” Mable said.
She said her boyfriend, promised to take care of her and her family and told her how much he loved her. She said, “I am asking other traditional healers, prophets, and even other people with spiritual gifts to help me.”
Mable declared that she would prefer to die with her mlungu rather than leave him because she loves him so much. “I will be with my girlfriend till I die because I love her,” Tiaan declared. Tiaan stated that he is open to any type of employment but that he is particularly skilled at spray painting. The pair also asks for assistance so they can celebrate their marriage in February when they will be legally wed at Home Affairs.
