Desperation measures to win the elections are already kicking in. The ANC has been on the ground for close to two weeks and challenged its opponents in campaigning. Every party has a dream and a priority goal to achieve in the next local elections. It does not matter the size of the party, but getting seats in parliament and winning municipalities is a bigger achievement. However, there are challenges that these parties are facing when they are on the ground.
People are exposing their failures, especially the ruling party. The ANC has been in charge for a prolonged period of time, but the living conditions of the residents are not changing at all. This is traumatizing, and does not show any intention of transformation and equality.
Over 10 vehicles of the ANC were spotted passing in Giyani villages. These vehicles were carrying the leadership of the ANC. This was the moment when South Africans picked up an incident that shows that the ANC does not prioritize the citizens of this country. People in Giyani have been complaining about the water crisis for a very long time.
These leaders did not intend on stopping and witnessing the situation, but instead they passed as if there was nothing wrong on their way. This is heartbreaking and there will still be no changes, despite all the votes and campaigns.
In this picture, a group of Giyani residents went out with wheelbarrows to fetch water. There are no boreholes that the government promised people. Some residents have to travel long distances to fetch water. It is not Giyani alone that complains about water, so many regions in South Africa are going through a difficult time.
Water is a need, this is what should be prioritized to people and the rest will follow. This situation can be changed if the ruling party is voted out.
