The strength of the state was put through a furnace and couldn’t withstand the heat after Ngizwe Mchunu was granted an R2000 bail today. The state was embarrassing throughout the trial as they bring video evidence where Ngizwe Mchunu was addressing crowds but nothing sort of inciting public violence that the state was seeking.
At the end of the ruling, the magistrate even says that he learns from the videos’ that Ngizwe Mchunu is a Zulu man and is proud of his culture. Being a Zulu is not a criminal offense in this country, we must respect each other heritage.
The magistrate went on to lambast the government for bringing in zero evidence in the court playing videos that have nothing to do with the crime alleged. From the outlook of things, there is no way Ngizwe Mchunu is going to lose this case when the trial starts in October. Ngizwe Mchunu said he will not abandon his country, his family, and his wives and more so the state has already had his travel documents.
On his bail condition, the magistrate said that he should not address the crowd but just a few minutes later Ngizwe was already celebrating with his supporters as well as talking to the media. This case is revealing that not only did the government lied that they have a case against people who wanted to commit insurrection but it also shows the gross incompetence of the NPA.
