Yoooh, the department of marital affairs can be very confusing at times, one minute the partners are declaring their undying love for each then the next boom everyone is heading to court. No one ever thought that Sophie Ndaba and her hubby, Max Lichaba will end things in such a messy manner barely three years after getting married.
Last year February a lot of South Africans witnessed their much-publicised vow renewal, it was a beautiful ceremony. Sophie and her hubby went on to share new wedding rings. Then COVID-19 lockdown happened in March and forced the two lovers to go their separate ways.
The actress has tried to keep the news that she and hubby have separated a secret but a close friend spilled the beans. The friend said that things turned messy after Sophie confronted her husband about his cheating ways, apparently, he had been busy with a woman from Kimberley, Nothern Cape.
The veteran actress went on to confront the alleged side chick who didn’t deny the affair. The side chick said Max had told her that they are in the process of divorcing.
The allegations broke the peace in their luxurious rented house in Joburg leaving them no other options but to go separate ways. Max was then thrown out of their home and he has since moved back to his hometown which is Kimberly. While Sophie also opted to leave the memories behind and has moved back to her estate house, west of Joburg.
“She said she discovered that he was cheating on her with that woman and when she confronted him, he denied knowing this woman. But she felt that the man was making a fool of her,” said the source.
Should the estranged couple continue with the divorce, this will be thespian third divorce. The actress was married to fellow actor Themba Ndaba, who plays Brutus in The Queen, in 1998. The couple divorced in 2007. She later tied the knot with Bishop Keith Harrington in 2011 and they broke up acrimoniously in 2013.
In 2018 everyone thought she had found someone to get old with as she wedded Max Lichaba. Sophie refused to comment on the divorce allegations while Lichaba denied the allegations that his marriage has crumbled. “There’s no such thing,” he said.
