– Julius Malema recently decided to take to social media to ask Jacob Zuma out for a cup of tea
– The leader of the EFF tweeted out the invitation and asked the ex-president if they could meet urgently over tea
– The internet lost its collective mind as Mzansi users could not believe the situation was real and immediately used it for political discussion and mockery
Julius Malema is no stranger to a viral tweet. Many of the political figure’s own tweets have garnered internet attention before and his message on Wednesday, 3 February did just that.
Julius posted a message on social media that asked if ex-president Jacob Zuma to organise to meet him urgently… for tea.
@PresJGZuma can we please have tea urgently?

The tweet’s perfect combination of simplicity and absurdity had Mzansi’s internet commenters go absolutely wild with mockery, meme-making and political jabs.
The tweet itself was posted just after 2pm and had been responded to over one thousand times in just one hour.
Jacob Zuma has been making headlines over his controversial decision to disobey the Constitutional Court’s orders and not appear before the Zondo Commission, so tweeps naturally poked fun at that situation.
Some decided to make memes imagining the two political figures having a cup of tea, others discussed differences in the governing strategies of their parties and some just mocked both Malema and Zuma.
Check out some responses below:
Thobela Moshabi. I have seen your request to share a cup of tea. As you know, Nkandla village is home for me and that is where my time is spent these days. Tea I have plenty of, you are more than welcome to come over for a cup. https://t.co/7Okdw94WAH

Thank you Baba, I will make a plan to arrive, possibly this weekend. I will take it further with your young man @mzwandileMasina for final details. Thank you for accepting my request promptly. It is in the best interest of our country. 🙏🏿
