President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to address the nation on Monday at 8pm on South Africa’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are expectations that harsher restrictions will be announced.
South Africa’s confirmed COVID-19 infections surpassed 1 million.
The Eastern Cape and Western Cape have recorded the most deaths.
Ramaphosa will take to the podium after deliberations with the National coronavirus Command Council (NCCC), various ministers, stakeholders and traditional leaders. The meeting that was held over the weekend came after the National Health Department expressed concern over the daily infection rate which also led to the country to recording over one million COVID-19 cases.
