Benni McCarthy is one of the most most successful player’s of all times in South Africa, being the top goal scorer of all times for the National team – with an impressive record of 31 goals throughout is highly anticipated career over the years.
The 42-year-old veteran is the only Southern African player to win the prestigious CAF International Goal of the year –
which eventually made him the most successful player in the country when he added the UEFA champions league to his cabinet, where he also finished as the top goal scorer.
McCarthy was later offered a role as the new head coach of Cape Town City (The Citizens) which had a promising start but odds quickly turned against him,
Which eventually led to his contract being terminated by the Citizens, however he has had some opportunities to return to his managerial position –
The National team ( Bafana Bafana) had in the past enquired about his services which he was not keen to take up at the moment,
Ajax Cape Town Chairman Ari Efstathiou was reportedly in talks with McCarthy to offer him a job –
but he has also rejected the offer and decided to stay abroad and enhance himself more under his former manager Jose Mourinho.
” I am just know waiting for the right project for me, the right club with good a management and only then will I return”, McCarthy told the media.
