Daine Klate, the most decorated player the Premier Soccer League has seen, named his all-time best Orlando Pirates XI.
Klate, who retired from professional football in July 2019, has won six Absa Premiership titles, two of which was during his time with Pirates.
At Pirates, Klate also became part of their historic double-treble winning team, a true legend of the game wherever he played. Imagine winning the Absa Premiership title five times in a row (with SuperSport United and Orlando Pirates)?
The former SuperSport, Pirates, Bidvest Wits and Chippa United playmaker has made history in the PSL and while he called time on his playing career last year, he will never be forgotten in football.
Klate was recently in charge of Chippa United’s MultiChoice Diski Challenge set-up before leaving the club in January this year.
While he focuses on the next big thing in his career, Klate had some time during the COVID-19 lockdown to look back and reveal his all-time best Pirates XI:
Klate has gone for a 3-5-2 formation. In goals, he has chosen the late Senzo Meyiwa, while Happy Jele and Willem Jackson make up the centre-back pairing. Helman Mkhalele and Brandon Silent make up his left and right wingback positions respectively.
In his midfield, Klate has chosen John Moeti, Oupa Manyisa and Dumisa Ngobe, while Jerry Sikhosana and Lesley Manyathela lead up front in a striking partnership.
