Orlando Pirates have confirmed that former assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena and another technical team member will join another PSL club until the end of the season.
Chippa United parted ways with coach Norman Mapeza after he tendered his resignation to the club’s management on Monday.
The Chilli Boys have since turned to Pirates for the services of Mokwena, who had been absent from the first team since the arrival of current head coach Josef Zinnbauer in December.
The Buccaneers have since confirmed that the budding young tactician, who was in charge for 15 games as interim coach last year, will now take charge at the Port Elizabeth-based club until June.
“Orlando Pirates Football Club can confirm that assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena has been seconded to join Absa Premiership outfit Chippa United,” reads a statement on Pirates’ website.
“Mokwena, who recently returned from an overseas trip which saw him visiting some European football clubs for a benchmarking exercise, joins the Chilli Boys until the end of the season.”
One of Pirates’ performance analysts and former interim coach of their MultiChoice Diski Challenge side Michael Loftman is set to join Mokwena at the Nelson Mandela Bay outfit.
