Overloading school children in taxis are one of the major factors leading to tragedy and serious accidents. Authorities clamping down on drivers in order to prevent overloading.
Monday morning, 20 january 2020 at about 07:00, traffic officer members stopped a Quantum taxi in the area and found that instead of the normal 14 seater passenger requirement, 57 children were squashed into the taxi. The driver was arrested on the spot and detained for violating the Road Traffic Act 93/1996 – Overloading. The taxi was impounded.

Police are urging parents to make sure that their children arrive alive at school and not to place their lives at risk by sending them in overloaded taxis.
