CONTROVERSIAL Inkatha Freedom Party councillor Mthembeni Majola has been shot and killed.
Majola was driving with other two occupants in his car where an unknown car follwed them and opened in R103 road in Estcourt northern KZN.
IFP leader at Estcourt Mbuyiseni Mkhize confirmed Majola’s death.

Mkhize said it looks like they were being followed by certain car which eventually opened fire on his car.
Majola was a councillor at local Inkosi Langalibalele municipality. He was an accused number one for the conspiracy to kill former IFP Endumeni speaker Bongiwe Mbatha-Makhathini.
He was arrested last year in May together with Siboniso Mbatha and an alleged hit man Xolani Makhathini from Pietermaritzburg.
They were cornered by Hawks while on their to apparently kill the speaker at that time.
Siboniso was a mayor at Endumeni and was fired earlier this year by his party. Their case is back to court in November.
Majola was confined to wheel chair some years ago after he survived shooting during political violence in Estcourt.
Meanwhile Cooperative Governance MEC Sipho Hlomuka has condemned the killing and offered his condolences to Majola family.
