A student has been killed at the University of Zululand in Kwa Zulu-Natal on Sunday. An unidentified student has reportedly stabbed his roommate to death at the University of Zululand’s far east residences, Sphetho BB.
A fight had allegedly broke out between the two students. A group of students entered their room and tried to break them apart while they were fighting. Campus security came to the room and asked all the other students to leave the room.

When campus security realised that the one student had a knife, they fled the scene to call the police. In the absence of the campus security, the student with the knife ensued to stab his room mate.
The police and emergency services reported to the scene and the body of the deceased has been removed.

Speaking to The Daily Post, an SRC member said that a group of students ran after the alleged killer and attacked him with rocks. Campus security and the police came to the rescue of the alleged killer.
“THE GROUP OF STUDENTS PERSISTED THAT THEY WANTED TO GET HOLD OF THE STUDENT AND THAT WHEN POLICE OPENED FIRE INTO THE AIR TO GET DISPERSE THE CROWD,” SAID MLUNGISI NDWANDE, SRC MEMBER
“There has been no reports of any student getting shot by the police” he added
