Nearly 17 000 people were hijacked in the country in the previous financial year. Johannesburg is one of the worst affected areas and with the festive season approaching, there are plenty of warnings about what to do to stay safe.
Gauteng saw an increase of 16.9% of hijackings year-to-year with over 8600 cases recorded in the province.
